Types of Outdoor Patio Heaters
Propane
Benefits:
- Heat up fast.
- No installation required.
- Portable; Can be moved to where you need the heat the most.
To Keep in Mind:
- Propane costs more than natural gas.
- Gas tanks will need to be replaced periodically.
- Shouldn’t be used in a covered or enclosed space.
Natural Gas
Benefits:
- Inexpensive to use.
- Easy to maintain.
To Keep in Mind:
- Expensive to buy and install.
- Can’t use in a covered or enclosed space.
- May be difficult to move due to natural gas line.
Electric
Benefits:
- Convenient to use – just plug it in.
- Safe to use in covered or enclosed spaces.
- Easy to use and maintain.
To Keep in Mind:
- Cost more to use in the long run.
- Can only be used close to an outlet.
- May prove to be slow to heat up.
Wood
Benefits:
- Provides great atmosphere.
- Affordable to purchase or build.
To Keep in Mind:
- Require more maintenance than other options.
- Trickier to ignite and maintain at desired heating level.
- May be difficult or expensive to get wood if you live in the city.
